Thermal cycling furnace
A thermal cycling furnace is used to predict the life of thermal barrier coatings. It can also be used to estimate the high temperature oxidation resistance of coatings. The specimen is heated to very high temperature within a short duration, it is soaked at high temperature for required time and then suddenly quenched to room temperature by forced air cooling. The required thermal cycles can be set. The specimens are checked visually after every 10 cycles and weight loss/gain is measured.
