Captive Trajectory System (CTS)
The CTS is a sophisticated computer – controlled electro-mechanical system for wind tunnel simulation of the trajectory of a store released from a parent aircraft. DC servo motors housed in the auxiliary support rig provide store movement in six degrees of freedom. Each of the six motors along with a direct-coupled tacho generator is connected in a closed loop servo and controlled by a MicroVax-II computer to automatically drive the model to the computed position and attitude. The CTS covers a volume of 800 mm (X), 450 mm (Y), 450 mm (Z) and angular ranges of ±90° in roll, ±25° in pitch and ±45° yaw. The system can generate 20 trajectory points in a single blowdown of about 30 seconds duration.
