I am interested in developing highly scalable, high fidelity CFD software for complex problems (complex geometries, multi-physics etc). I worked as a research associate and did my Masters under Prof. T. K. Sengupta, IIT Kanpur during 2006-2010 where I developed high accuracy CFD codes for incompressible flows using compact schemes and analyzed several popular numerical schemes using Fourier-Laplace transforms.
Immediately after joining NAL, I parallelized an in-house 3D finite volume code HYENA which transformed itself into a work-horse CFD tool for configuration aerodynamic design and was duly employed for major in-house programmes like Regional Transport Aircraft (RTA)/ National Civil Aircraft Development (NCAD)/ Transport Aircraft Design Bureau (TADB) due to the high scalability of the code.
I have developed a recent interest in DNS/LES of complex problems which involves solution of large problems involving huge grid sizes (~billion elements) and complex geometries. I am currently developing a novel, highly scalable CFD framework based on unstructured grids which is targeted for Petascale and beyond computing environments. The novelty of this framework is that it is end to end parallel- right from mesh processing to solution stage without any serial processing algorithms and currently no CFD frameworks (OPENFOAM, SU2) have this capability. My ultimate goal is to simulate complex fluid flows by Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS) which precludes modelling in the hope to resolve long standing issues in Science and Engineering
