Tarun’s research work is concern with the process technology development for carbon fibers. His area of research is centered on the acrylonitrile polymerization and polyacrylonitrile precursor fiber for carbon fibers. He has contributed in setting up the pilot plant facility for carbon fibers including the implementation of distributed control system for entire plant. In his past 18 years of research experience, he has been involved in specific process equipment development, process scale up operations, process control and monitoring, polymer reaction kinetic studies and wet spinning technology. He was also associated with the process know how transfer to industries for standard modulus grade carbon fiber technology and its certification with the CEMILAC. Currently, he is focusing on enhancement of carbon fiber properties through the development of superior grade precursor fibers.
Area of interest: Fiber spinning, Polymer reaction kinetics, Process scale up
