Srikanth’s field of research relates to design, processing and testing of fibre reinforced polymer composites for aerospace applications. Emphasis has been on implementing customized and cost effective tooling, process quality control and process documentation for composite products. Salient outcomes include development of composite torque shaft, intricate components for space applications, air intake duct, in addition to the successful Transfer of Technology (ToT) of manufacturing of airborne and weather radomes to production units. Another important area of research has been the design of mechanical subsystems for small and medium scale wind turbines, a spin-off technology for societal applications. In addition, knowledge of mechanical characterization and non-destructive evaluation of composites is being employed to cater to the requirements from various institutions including Govt., PSUs and private industries.
Research Interests:
Collapsible core tooling, processing techniques for high temperature polymer composites, body armours, eco-friendly natural fibre composites, composite rotor and other sub-systems design for wind turbines.
