Dr. Prasanta is involved in the R and D activities on the development of magnetic sensors based on Giant Magnetoresistive (GMR), Anisotropic Magnetoresistance (AMR) and Tunnelling Magnetoresistance (TMR) for spintronics applications. He has developed several sensing elements in QFN packages which are used to measure speed, angle, pressure and displacement. The magnetic field sensor chip developed by his team has already been successfully converted to a speed sensor and tested in a geared two wheeler. He has established a facility for coating magnetic multilayers on 4 inch wafers for the fabrication of magnetic field sensor chips with different packages. Currently, he is involved in the development of pressure sensor. He has developed magnetic nano-dots and nanowires, electro active based polymer actuators and micro-fluidic lab-on-chip for health care application.
