S.R.Viswamurthy completed his B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering from IIT-Madras in 2001. He then joined Department of Aerospace Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore as a graduate student and completed his Ph.D in 2007. His doctoral thesis was on the topic of ‘Piezoceramic dynamic hysteresis effects on helicopter vibration control using multiple trailing-edge flaps’ under the guidance of Prof.Ranjan Ganguli. Subsequently, he worked as a Post-doctoral fellow at the Seoul National University for a year in the area of Multi-body formulations for load prediction in helicopter rotor blades and control system components. He joined Advanced Composites Division of CSIR-NAL in December-2008 as Scientist (Ad-hoc). Presently, he is a senior scientist at ACD, NAL. His current research interests include: Damage tolerance studies of composite structures, Buckling & Post-buckling behaviour of composite structures, Structural health monitoring, Linear and nonlinear finite element analysis & Digital Image Correlation technique. He is a life member of Indian Society for Advancement of Materials and Processing Engineering (ISAMPE). His research efforts have led to over 20 international journal articles, several conference papers & technical documents. Since 2010, he has also supervised 12 students for Master’s degree thesis/dissertations. In the last 4 years, he has also trained more than 25 Project Trainees, Project Assistants & Interns at NAL.
