Karuppannan D

Mr. Karuppannan joined Advanced Composites Division (ACD), CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories in the year 1999 and working in the division for Design & Development of composite aircraft structures and aircraft structural repair work. He completed M Tech in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization of Engineering Design from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University, Coimbatore in 2010.

He has rich experience in the Design & Manufacturing of Composite parts for Civil & Military Aircraft and development of innovative tooling for co-curing / co-bonding composite structures. More than twelve years of experience in the field of composite materials and processing methodology. Knowledge in the processing of carbon-Epoxy and Carbon- BMI materials system using autoclave-moulding process.

Research Interests                              : 

•  Development of high temperature resistant composites

• Futuristic composite process/product development

• Design & Development innovative tooling for co-cured composite products

• Development of adhesive bonded Assembly Process and its related Technologies

He was leading the group, which won the NAL Technology shield for outstanding group achievement award in 2014 for ‘Design & Development of Airworthy Carbon-BMI Engine Bay Door for LCA TEJAS Aircraft’ and He received Gold Medal for University First Rank in his post-graduation from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University, Coimbatore.
