Dr. Bhagaban Behera’s research interests are focused on utilizing micro- and nanotechnologies to develop innovative sensors and actuators. He has worked on the synthesis of metal oxide nanostructures (ZnO, CuO, WO3) by thermal oxidation technique for gas sensing applications. For the fabrication of a complete sensor, these nanostructures were integrated with MEMS technologies by incorporating an on-chip microheater and an interdigitated electrode structure. Also, he has worked on metal oxide gas sensor array in an E-nose system for breath analysis of diabetic patients. He has developed MEMS devices for breast cancer diagnosis, neural recording, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
Currently he is working on spin valve, giant-magnetoresistance (GMR) and tunnel-magnetoresistance (TMR) technology.
